The main challenge was to provide a working environment conducive to teaching, research and consultancy in a specialist field of medicine at a world-renowned institution.
The design of the building created a particular challenge regarding the provision of services to the workstations. Due to the nature of the LSTMâs work, it was not possible to install a raised access floor.
The fully glazed design of the building shell also prevented perimeter services from being installed in a large proportion of the building. These problems were resolved by utilising power poles to reach inaccessible areas.
