In order to minimise disruption to ongoing activities before, during and after the refurbishment, staff and equipment needed to be decanted temporarily to a different area within the site.

Furniture and equipment from another location had to be removed, stored and reinstalled. Wherever possible equipment was repaired and re-used, and unwanted materials removed or recycled.

All work needed to be carried out during evenings and weekends, and full office facilities, particularly IT services and networks, had to be maintained during both moves.
